Minor crisis caused me to miss yesterday's post. We went to the lab to sign into the Edmodo account and begin posting. Instructions are available at the Handout tab. Please let me know once you've requested to join, so I can put you into the appropriate group. You should also look at the sample posts tab to see some great and downright awful posts. Today we used the time to read as tomorrow there will be lit. circles for all but The Help which will be on Thursday. Be sure to tab any necessary text and have your lit. log ready.

Poem autopsies are due on Monday.
We read "Showering with Spiders" as well as an essay about Harry the dog. If you were missing you may want to get a copy from me ( not in electronic format yet) and read through them as models to write a narrative essay. We brainstormed a list of what makes a great narrative essay ( I have left this on the board if you want to take a picture to make notes with). TOMORROW YOU WILL BE WRITING AN IN-CLASS NARRATIVE ESSAY ON A SUBJECT OF YOUR CHOOSING. I WILL HAVE PROMPTS IF YOU CAN'T COME UP WITH SOMETHING.
The remainder of the class was spent working on poetry autopsy and any other revisions for next week.
Wednesday Sept. 21
Students got their "Chalk Outline" paragraphs back with notes on them. Students are to decide whether they will have them marked at this point or make revisions.

Wednesday August 31st
Students first wrote a letter of introduction (see Handouts tab for instructions) then we re-visited yesterday's Robbery Mystery in terms of how well they thought their group functioned. We brainstormed what an effective group looks/sounds like. We then used the handout "Inferences: An Educated Guess" and discussed their reactions to each of the pictures on the front page: What did you base your assumptions on? We then went back to our original groups and did another mystery in which students had to identify the murderer, the weapon, the place of the murder, the time of the murder and the motive of the murderer. We did not get to finish the chart from the handout. We will go back to the clues tomorrow and finish our inferences chart.
